We  managed to 'inherit' the Finnish Fair Trade Ship "TS Estelle" which had been visiting Newcastle for an international Fair Trade event.

Her crew needed some training in Man Overboard (MoB) and Abandon Ship drills - both of which we managed to provide to the satisfaction of the MCA Inspectors.

She also required fuel, spare parts and the potable water system disinfecting.  Thanks to the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, who donated a ton of fuel, she was able to move up to Blyth for the remaining issues to be addressed.

The work never stops up aloft, as the crew make fast the sail

The representatives of both local authorities - Newcastle and Blyth - pulled out all the stops to enable this ship to become sufficiently seaworthy to continue her passage around the coast.

As she was also short of crew, a number of local, Blyth fishermen made up the numbers for the passage to Leith

HMS Bounty alongside in Blyth

In the distance, a fond farewell to HMS Bounty and her crew.

We brought the ship 'HMS Bounty' to visit both Blyth and Newcastle in September 2007, after we had been asked if we had any ideas what to do with her because she had 'a few spare days' before going on to star at the Southampton Boat Show'.
