NEWS

We have been asked if we would 'have a look' at  an old outboard motor with a view to getting it working.  This project is now in its third stage, and it is almost ready for testing.  23/8/2010

Our involvement within the local community as an asset to their fundraising efforts has increased significantly over this past year, with our Stocks and Splat-the-Rat becoming ever more popular as fundraising attractions, with 'Blyth Venture' making an excellent, and extremely popular display feature.

PAST EVENTS

Sunday 8th August  We attended the 'Jeeps and Jets' event at the Sunderland Aircraft Museum.  Our display was set up next to the RAF Air-Sea Rescue helicopter. For some pictures, have a look at our Community page in the Gallery.

Saturday 21st August saw us taking part in the First Annual Astley Community Festival in Seaton Delaval. The Guest of Honour was Malcolm Macdonald, better known as 'Supermac' ... and we managed to persuade him to try out our stocks for size! (Link here)

Saturday 28th August We took our stocks and Splat the Rat to the Durban House Home in Blyth, to raise money for the residents 'Comfort Fund'.  Thanks to Jackie the manager, they raised in the region of £500 for their cause.

DIARY DATES

Saturday 11th September We will be holding our Community Fun Day for 2010.  We are no longer able to use the area around the Dun Cow Quay, as the local interest was not forthcoming in time!  It is hoped that next year there will be interactive displays from all branches of the Armed Forces. However, the event will be opened by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland, Mrs Jean Bell.  Attractions include Animalgique, the Scouts Brew'n'Buns, face painting, and stalls for a range of community organisations. We are still hoping to have a 'bouncy slide' and/or rides to entertain the children.  There will also be a Hot Food Van to allow visitors to have a choice of hot or cold snacks. We will of course be setting up our famous Stocks, and look forward to the participation of many other community-based organisations. 23/8/2010

Tuesday 21st September. We will be giving a talk and presentation to the Blyth Branch of the Northumberland and Durham Family History Society at the Constitutional Club in Croft Road Blyth. The meeting starts at 7.30pm

Thursday 21st October is Trafalgar Day, and we will be meeting up at Collingwoods Monument in Tynemouth to toast the great man with a tot of rum at 12 noon, which was the time that he fired the first salvo in the Battle of Trafalgar from his ship the 'Royal Sovereign'.

Details of our earlier activities can be found on our News Archive page
